Leave it to cleaver
Here's something I read in the Croydon Post last week..."He admitted hitting Mr Jones with a meat cleaver, but denied trying to kill him."
Apart from begging the obvious question, 'well what did he think would be the result of hitting someone with a meat cleaver?', this leaves us with 2 available conclusions.
Conclusion 1. He is telling the truth and in fact only wanted to tickle Mr Jones with a meat cleaver and was genuinely surprised when blood and guts spilled out.
Conclusion 2. He is talking bollocks.
What frightens me most though, is that there is a 3rd conclusion, in which whacking someone with a meat cleaver without intending to hurt them is, in law, a lesser crime than hitting them with a cleaver planning to cause damage.
In which case, the law is, indeed, an ass.
