Savannah ho!
We awoke, eager and ready for our short flight to Savannah, the South and Wig’s inevitable lynching. We packed. We jumped in a cab. We arrived at the airport.
“We’re here to check in,” we declared.
“We have no record of any of you,” they replied.
I have to admit that this was a bit of a low. Wig, the man who was not allowed to book any hotels in case he cocked it up, had managed to not book any flights at all.
Brilliant.
Fortunately, the lovely chaps at the airport managed to find find us a slightly later flight with a stopover in Charlotte that would only put us back four hours or so from our schedule.
So we decided to go for a bit of breakfast.
Fortunately for us, the options were delicious and nutritious. Everything from MacDonalds to Dunkin’ Doughnuts, representing all the food groups from dought to lard.
Splendid.
Actually, we did buy a doughnut to try. The flavour was ‘Pink’, which funnily enough, is exactly what it tasted of.
I managed two bites before my brain was clouded by a massive sugar rush and forced me to run round and round the airport for ten minutes, before crashing massively.
Thank you Dunkin’ Diabetics.
Still, it passed the time until the plane arrived, which it did.
In no time at all (actually several hours) we were in The Deep South.
Hurrah!
(Nb final note on the flight, in the words of Pellet, "If it had been any one of the others who booked the flight, I would have argued all day long that the airline had made a mistake. As it was, as soon as they said there was no flight, I thought 'Oh God, we're going to have to buy new flights'."

I realise this might be a difficult question to answer, but how can anyone manage to get as far as the check-in desk before they find out they've not booked any flights?
Oh come on Prof, you've seen this shambles in action, you know what he's like.
The real surprise is that one of the more fastidious members of the party didn't think to check Wig's working rather than take his final answer at face value. IDIOTS!
I think Wig's incompetence at planning Lad's holiday is actually very deliberate and savvy. He gets to show up and have a great time having done none of the work. Just think- next time he won't even be asked to do anything This will save him going to the trouble of simply not bothering with any task he is asked to perform as he usually has to. Go Wig!
Come to Wisconsin, it is much nicer than Savannah.
As Adam put it - he can be relied on to get Paddy Ashdown a cab in working hours, but not 5 of us on a plane whilst on holiday.
Am I correct in thinking that you were away for 10 days yet have only blogged up to day 2? Thought so. Please can we have the rest?
It was 12. 12 whole days of quality blogging fodder! I too am finding Peter's reticence rather disconcerting- still not entirely convinced he is the real deal...
FG.
And you should know, FG. Perhaps he is being held hostage in Savannah and we are being fobbed off with a less prolific looky-like-y..
