Bonnie goes to Brighton

So what do you do when you’re at a loose and with a motorbike sitting in the drive?
Go to Brighton and beat up some mods, of course.
So I plonked Satellite Tina on the back of the Bonnie and off we went. Sadly, on arrival, there was nary a mod to be seen, so we beat up a group of schoolchildren instead.
Anyway, as you know, the trip co-incided nicely with the World Beard and Moustache championships, which I planned to pop in to.
Until I discovered that Tina is actually a rabid beard-ist. I was shocked as she recoiled in horror at the sight of all the facial hair on display… and that was just outside the venue.
In fact, viewing the promenaders and their proud bushiness, I couldn’t help but notice that for these people, the beard was just the beginning.
It seems that once you’ve got yourself a crazy beard in the style of a celebrity Victorian, it just doesn’t look right in normal, everyday clothes.
So then you get a wacky hat, to frame the beard.
But the hat isn’t enough. Soon you’ve purchased a full-on fancy dress outfit that makes you look a time-travelling Prussian tourist.
Just standing outside the venue made you feel like you were in the middle of some kind of outdoor murder mystery dinner.
Sadly, when we decided to go inside, we learned that you actually had to pay for tickets, which was just too much for Tina, and me to be honest, so we settled for a pub lunch instead.
But for your information, German competitors scooped all three top prizes in the full beard freestyle category. No images available as yet though, sorry.
Interestingly, it turns out that the championship has its detractors, namely the Beard Liberation Front, who believe the show is less about the beards themselves and more about the styling and modelling. For shame.
Anyway, we had a lovely time in Brighton, playing games on the pier, paddling in the sea (albeit unintentionally) and inhaling the seaside air (smells of chip fat).
What fun!

Crikey you dedicated quite a lot of real estate to the moustache and beard championships (the very thought still gives me the heeby geebies!)!!
...What of the 90 mph winds on the M23 - equivalent to a category 4 hurricane (as in Hurricane Dean, incidentally)? Arriving in Brighton before the said hurricane made it to King's Cross? Savouring the lovely countryside during un-planned detours? The historical tour of Croydon and all the Croydonites?
Great day out indeed, and I happily accept the honour of being Peter's pillion passenger of choice... that is, until I'm displaced by a real girlfriend ;-)
Historical tour of Croydon - Tina, was this the same childhood memories tour?
Hurricane Dean - Also Flatmate Dean or a different Dean altogether?
Peter, good to see pix of you and Bonnie.
