Cockney face

So we did make it to Putney for the boat race. And thank you Anonymous. Your tip for Cambridge turned out to be sound.

So did I put money on them? Of course not.

It's not that I don't trust anonymous internet tipsters you understand (after all, they can't be any worse at guessing these things than I am), I just didn't get around to it. Damn.

On the plus side, we found a nice spot by the Thames and pretended to be posh, by drinking lager in the afternoon. But this wasn't just lager, it was M&S lager.

So that makes it alright then.

In other news, we had a lovely roast chicken for dinner with Hannah and Dave, which was a great spread and, rather considerately, they had even laid on some entertainment.

About halfway through the meal, Hannah looks out of the window.

"Oh look," she declares, in the tone of voice with which you might announce that you've spotted the first swallow of Spring, "That truck appears to be on fire."

That's right. A garbage truck was outside with smoke pouring out of the back. So we stood at the window and enjoyed the scene for a while. Some time later, someone asked if perhaps we should have called the fire brigade.

Oh yeah. Good thinking.

Also, for the irony fans amongst you, Wig, Trolleydolley and myself decided that, as it was a beautifully sunny day on Sunday, we would spend two hours in a darkened room, with no windows, watching a film.

And what film did we see?

Sunshine, of course.
