Dating dullards
I have discovered on Match.com (a dating site) that is has a thing called 'matchwords'. This is, I believe, a system that picks out specific words in people's profiles and then allows you to find people using these words.So far, so not very interesting.
What is interesting is that it also lists the top 10 most popular words being searched for by men and women.
And the results are thus.
Top 10 for men
* walking
* browneyes
* swimming
* weights
* music
* movies
* blackhair
* darkbrownhair
* blueeyes
* running
Top 10 for women
* honest
* darkbrownhair
* reading
* travel
* browneyes
* family
* music
* swimming
* movies
* walking
What is it with walking and swimming? Good God, surely there can't be that many ramblers and swimmers out there can there?
Come on, show a little imagination people.
And what's with the 'darkbrownhair' and 'brown eyes' thing? Is it that the blue-eyed are simply outnumbered, or does nobody want to draw attention to their blonde locks and icy iris'? Very odd.
Nice to see a couple of gender stereotypes coming out though. Women have 'family' and 'honest' in their top 10. And men? 'Music' and 'weights'.
No sign of 'imagination' or 'creativity' though.
Funny that.

Does that mean that men (or at least those who use match.com) would rather have a bruentte with dark eyes who does weights and is surgically attached to her iPod than a surgically enhanced blue-eyed blonde who runs (along the beach in a swimsuit, say)and listens to them?
