Smells like Vadim spirit
Sounds like Vadim Perelman had a good night out the other night…Vadim Perelman, who directed the 2003 film House Of Sand And Fog, appeared in a Norwalk, Connecticut court on Monday on charges he groped two women and punched another at a nightclub.
Two things strike me as interesting about this story. The first is the man in question’s defence…
Mr. Perelman never intended to harm anyone during the evening in question
Right. He never intended to harm anyone. But he doesn’t actually deny harming anyone does he?
Well if that’s a valid defence, then a lot of my own behaviour suddenly seems quite acceptable. I never intended to end up in any brothels, after all. It just happens. And now, it would appear, that means it’s not my fault. Hurrah!
Secondly, and more interestingly, is the poor third woman. What must you think about your personal attractiveness when you see a drunken loon salaciously groping two unsuspecting women?
Then he approaches you. "Oh dear. Here we go," you think, readying yourself for a pinched arse or fondled breast.
Then he punches you.
That has to be a bit demoralizing doesn’t it?

Speaking as a female, I'm not sure which of the two is worse.
If a strange drunken man gropes you, you could call his bluff by groping him back - but we know that he would only enjoy this and count it as an evening well spent. The alternative is to punch him, which despite his appalling behaviour may be seen by all in sundry as an over-reaction.
On the other hand, if he just punched you, you would be perfectly justified in punching him back... or you could just take him to court and screw every last penny out of him. Either way, there is surely more satisfaction to be gained from this over the groping scenario?
