My mate

Quite frankly, it's wrong. It's a crime against god and nature. It's an abomination.

I'm talking, of course, about the new marmite in a squeezy bottle. What is that all about?

Marmite is not just a food. It's a ritual. From the soft scrapy noise it makes when you unscrew the lid, to the desperate grinding around with a knife to get the very last vestiges out for that piece of toast on a hungover morning, leaving marmite halfway up the handle. There's a tactile aspect to the thing that simply won't be replaced by the kind of farty, squirty receptacle they've developed.

Obviously the marketers at Marmite, inspired by the success of ketchup bottle (although my flatmates think non-glass ketchup bottles are wrong too, but that's just plain obstreperousness I think) thought the world was ready for squeezy Marmite.

They were wrong. Bastards.

I share your outrage, Peter. It is also worth considering what changes have been made to the Marmite to make it squeeze-able. The makers claim that they have not changed anything about the content, but how else could they make the hitherto satisfyingly gloopy and un-squirty marmite suitable for serving by the squirt? We demand to know.
