A shot rang out
Good night last night. Out and about in Shoreditch, we decided to go to… a Bavarian beer cellar.It was amazing. First off, it was actually in a cellar, so no distractions such as natural light to put you off your drinking.
Secondly, they served us a splendid assortment of sausages, including one very suspicious white one which, our waitress informed us, you had to skin first before you ate it. Or you could suck the meat out of one end if you preferred, although she did refuse to demonstrate that to us.
But best of all was the establishment’s enthusiastic encouragement of binge drinking, nicely in accordance with the UK licensing authorities code of practice.
None of that ‘please enjoy responsibly’ nonsense for our beer cellar. Oh no. Instead there were posters up encouraging us to
a) buy and drink a shot of very strong spirit that came in a miniature bottle and
b) buy and drink more shots of the same spirit, and construct our very own tower of bottles. What fun!
In addition, the waitresses, (who were, to their credit, actually from Munich) not only served us loads of booze, they then proceeded to join us at our table and introduce us to a sensible, moderate drink called The Bomb. This consisted of Jaegermeister in a shot glass inside a glass of Red Bull.
Nice.
What’s more, they even joined us in a number of these shot sessions, until everyone was pretty much pissed.
Which explains why, at the end of the night, Wig informs me that I went striding confidently off towards Islington, where I don’t live.
And why I’ve lost my bag and bank card.
And the headache.
Still, good night though.

Allow me to be the first (here at least) to say: IDIOT!
Here's another German expression you might add to those you know already: sucking the meat out of the Weisswurst is called "zutzeln".
And ah ja, "IDIOT" is identical.
